The Las Vegas event I attended was primarily tied into Tarkir: Dragonstorm , with special creatures linked to its five clans, but the card pool also had plenty of RPG references as an homage to the Final Fantasy crossover set that had just come out

You just need to be proactive, as counterspells wont be that good
Both Hellrider and this are just solid top end high power finisher cards and both very playable in the archetype
And each lets you do different things with your Umi cards (which is all of them!)
